In July 1986, The Mexican Spitfires played their first gig to a packed audience at the Lismore Hotel, located on Pitt Street in Sydney. They were discovered byRed Eye Records that same night and were subsequently signed to a record deal by that label. The band's debut six-track 12-inch EP Lupe Velez was released in 1988. The first EP was an immediate success on the independent charts, moving straight into the top 5 in Sydney and scoring the band significant airplay on 2JJ , particularly for the songs "Sydney Town", "You Can't Run" and "Town Hall Steps". Lupe Velez received favourable reviews in Englgish Music magazine NME and in the Australian music press.
Personally I've loved this EP especially "You Can't Run" which is a memorable Pop song in a typical Aussie style. Good Good Good and really hard to find.
"A Cold Cold Night" is my fav song of the album: simply tragically beautiful. Enjoy
As primitive as Watson, Kirk, and Mallinder's early material sounds decades after conception, in the wake of countless movements within the form, nothing can take away from the fact that no one will ever approach the spectral wonder inherent in the group's early work. Just over a third of "The Original Sound of Sheffield: '78/'82" — the sister release to 2001's similarly titled anthology that covers 1983-1987 — overlaps with "The Living Legends" compilation, but this disc now acts as the first place to go for early Cabaret Voltaire. "The Living Legends" covered roughly the same period, collecting tracks from singles, EPs, and compilations. This one opens up the scope to consider the landmark (and vastly different) post-punk LPs "Red Mecca" and "2 X 45", and thankfully resists the unavoidable temptation of including large chunks from both. This compilation and the one that covers the era that followed form an excellent overview of the Sheffield group. Despite the fact that longtime fans might balk at the exclusion of equally immense moments like "2 X 45"'s "Breathe Deep," "8 Crepuscule Tracks"' "Sluggin' fer Jesus," and "Red Mecca"'s "Sly Doubt," there's simply too much prime material from this phase to cram onto one disc. For the unfamiliar who have grown tired of hearing about the group's influence upon a wide swath of electronic producers and groups, two discs that neatly summarize their startling greatness are now at the ready.
She writes nearly-Gothic love songs full of obsession and pathos, and pretty orchestral settings with clever instrumental figures and stinging piano runs and minor-key epiphanies. She's a consummate artist, playing to her strengths while trying to subtly, but surely, extend her reach, and always following her own muse, even when it takes her into dissonant territory. Most of her albums are out of print even on CD, and sell for collector's prices when they can be found. This is too bad, because Clark has assembled a solid, if quirky, and passionately honest body of work. This best-of issued by Beehive is truly that. It features 24 tracks and clocks in at over 75 minutes. Many of these are Clark's most lovely songs, such as "The Sitting Room," "All Night Party" (with Vini Reilly of Durutti Column), the "12" remix" of "Our Darkness," and "The Last Emotion," as well as instrumental themes such as "Swimming" and "An Ordinary Life." Simply put, without being able to collect her singles or albums, this is as good as you can do without getting ripped off in the bargain. Anne Clark's best-of presents a wonderfully deep portrait of a complex and misunderstood artist who deserves far more in terms of the recognition she has thus far received. This is truly a beautiful collection by a great poet and composer.
As a personal note I can say only that this artis have been really underrates over the years and i still remember dancing "Sleeper In Metropolis" all night long in the 80's disco of my town.
This is it! This is the beginning of the modern Synthpop. When this album came out in 1979 it was a real shock for the audience. Huma League were the first to introduce a perfect mixture between col electronic and pop, as Kraftwerk did a couple of years before.
Human League were the pioneers of the new romantic british movement and this album is a sort of manifesto of the possibilities of synthetizzers. By this album several band believed that electronic music could be an accessible kind of music for the people. It was not a war on guitars but moreover, it was the man controlling the machine.
Enjoy this awesome album!
White. Before UV Pop he was in The I Scream Brothers who have a few cuts on compilations.

The first UV Pop release is the 'No Songs Tomorrow' 7" on PAX, one of the rarest of his releases. Next is the 'No Songs Tomorrow' LP on UK experimental label Flowmotion (Konstruktivits, Metamorphosis,...). This album gave UV Pop a cult status. This album was also issued in Belgium on Konnexion. Also on Flowmotion appeared the 'Anyone To Me' 7"/12".
The 'Bendy Baby Man' is the second full length of UV Pop, who became a full band now. This one was released on his own Extra Records label. On this label came also the very last release 'Music To Yeah To' 12".
The 'Serious' 12" was released on Native Records and offers two different versions of the track that appears on the 'Bendy Baby Man' LP.
This is really good stuff but unfortunately very rare or way too expensive to get my hands on. UV Pop have a cult following, so maybe it's time for some reissues.

Having embraced a more pop orientated direction, the Sound gave it their best shot with Shock Of Daylight, starting with the triumphant technicolor splash of "Golden Soldiers", all the while their gloom-rock assumed a more elegant and humane garb in "Longest Days", which was washed off in a melancholic stream in the paean "Counting The Days", and accompanied by minimal strumming and keyboards in "Winter" (the highlight). They also half embraced new-romanticism in the melodic funk-rock "A New Way Of Life" and the nocturnal "Dreams Then Plans". Emotion and melodies had replaced dark-punk edge.

The template for Nitzer Ebb had already been established some years earlier with D.A.F.'s thrilling, rough-yet-clean combination of dancefloor aggression, industrial noise, and lyrical imagery (and vocal stylings), suggesting a combination of fascist rally and hardcore male-bondage sex club. What the Douglas McCarthy/Bon Harris duo did on their first full album was to give it a distinctly English-language bent, as well as drawing on some of the further developments of EBM over time. If the resultant debut was a bit one-note as an overall release, the duo already showed a bent for making sure their concoctions were instantly memorable and undeniably thrilling. McCarthy's singing is less supple and more ear-piercingly harsh than Gabi Delgado's, say, but his seemingly odd quaver actually gives the band a unique stamp, delivering the slogan-like lyrics with the force of overwhelming command. Consider "Violent Playground," which could almost be a Soft Cell stomper with all the swooning romance completely pared away to leave nothing but brute homoerotic force (and appropriate volume). Harris' ear for beats and how to make them really crunch through doesn't let him down -- check out the huge, sudden metal door-slam rhythms on "Smear Body" for a particularly notable example of his ability. If there's a standout track from That Total Age, it would probably have to be "Join in the Chant," with McCarthy's clipped, elliptical words and delivery perfectly suited for the invigorating storm of drum hits and central bass part. That said, there's plenty of close competition, with the quick, frenetic surge of "Murderous," electronic bass and percussion barely in control as McCarthy roars, "Lift up your hearts!," and the equally impressive "Let Your Body Learn" with its use of vocal echo for maximum impact. The CD version includes three remixes as bonus tracks.

Die Krupps came together in 1981 as a duo comprised of vocalist, guitarist, keyboardist, and mouthpiece Jurgen Engler, formerly of the German punk outfit Male, and ex-Propaganda member Ralf Dorper. Over the course of the group's first three records, 1981's Stahlwerksinfonie, 1982's Volle Kraft Voraus, and 1984's Entering the Arena, Die Krupps continued to refine its lyrically bleak, synth-based sound.
Entering The Arena is an excellent example of synth sound combined with industrial sounds. A must have for all synth enthusiasts!
